A bumper harvest for 2020/21

Australia is on the cuff of having one of the best harvests on record. With New South Wales nearly producing more than what the whole country grew in 2019/20. This harvest season is set to be topped out at 51.5 million tonnes of grain. With the last three years of hard drought, some farmers have been relieved to even plant a crop let alone double the yield. With the expectation in 2019 sitting pretty low, then 2020 rain that came early were able to help rejuvenate the regional economy.

You’ll find a lot more people smiling when there is moisture on the ground. We hope you’ve been able to capture some of the hype and get ready for the summer crops next year. We’ll be catching up with some leading farmers to see how their harvests went with two critical points:

  • Access to a labour force for employment during harvest
  • Trade Policies on certain cereals with China banning barley
